Welcome to Rainbow Class
We are a large and vibrate reception unit consisting of two classes: Stars and Diamonds. We have a large 'double classroom' and and impressive and well equiped outdoor learning space.
Children typically start in a Reception class in the academic year that they turn five years old. This means that this birthday falls within the cycle from 1st September to the following 31st August.
Reception class is actually classed as the final year of EYFS. Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) covers a child's development from birth through until the age of five. EYFS is focused on giving children the skills to properly prepare them for learning before they begin work within the national curriculum. In Rainbows, children learn through play interspersed with short teaching inputs as a whole class and in small groups.
The seven areas of learning and development in EYFS are:
- Personal, Social, and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language Development
- Mathematical Development
- Understanding of the World
- Physical Development
- Expressive Arts and Design
All children learn and develop at different rates. We believe that all areas of learning and development are equally important and interconnected.
We look forward to meeting you.
